Unconfined compression machine adalah alat untuk pengujian unconfined compression strength UCS Test ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui kekuatan tekan bebas tanah kohesif dalam keadaan asli (undisturbed) maupun keadaan buatan (remolded). Yang dimaksudkan kekuatan tekan bebas adalah tekanan aksial benda uji pada saat mengalami keruntuhan atau pada saat regangan aksial mencapai 20%.
